Dynamo Reserves rally twice for tie
Chabala nets equalizer in 88th minute
San Jose struck first in the 27th minute when Davide Somma played Gavin Glinton in behind the San Jose defense. Glinton rounded Dynamo goalkeeper Tony Caig and slotted the ball in from a bad angle. The Dynamo leveled the score just before the half when Johnny Alcaraz's back-post corner kick was headed across the face of goal by Erik Ustruck, and defender Stephen Wondolowski touched it over the line.
In the second half, San Jose again went on top when Somma and Shea Salinas exchanged passes on a counter-attack, and Somma tapped in the final pass for a 2-1 lead. But the Dynamo tied the match in the 88th minute when a deflected cross fell to left back Mike Chabala at the top of the penalty area, and he curved a right-footed shot into the far side netting, leaving Earthquakes goalkeeper Mike Grazcyk motionless.
The Dynamo Reserves are now 7-1-2 on the season, trailing Kansas City only on goal differential in the MLS Reserve Division standings with two games remaining. Houston's next game is Saturday night after the first team game against the Los Angeles Galaxy.
