HOUSTON -- Houston Dynamo midfielder Ricardo Clark was called into the United States national team as a replacement for injured midfielder Maurice Edu, U.S. Soccer announced Monday night.

Clark will join the United States squad in San José, Costa Rica on Tuesday in advance of Wednesday's qualifier against Costa Rica and Saturday's qualifier against Honduras in Chicago. He is expected to miss the Dynamo's Friday night game against the Chicago Fire.

Clark, 26, has made 18 career appearances for the U.S. national team and has scored one goal. He has made four previous appearances in World Cup qualifying, including the United States' last game at Costa Rica in 2005. He has played every minute of the Dynamo's 12 competitive games this season and recorded his first assist of the year in Saturday's 3-0 win over Toronto FC.

He is the second Dynamo player to be named to the United States roster for the pair of games, joining Houston teammate Brian Ching.

The Houston Dynamo are a Major League Soccer franchise that has won two MLS Cup championships in its first three seasons and represented the United States in three consecutive regional championships. Currently on a seven-game unbeaten streak, the Dynamo will face Eastern Conference leader Chicago on the road Friday night before returning home for a Wednesday, June 10 clash with Western Conference leader Chivas USA at Robertson Stadium.
