College Round-up: Four teams qualify for NCAAs

The Houston Dynamo Player Development System, presented by Statoil, includes a number of collegiate players on the team's Home-Grown Player List. Many of these players have already practiced with the Dynamo first team while in Houston, a unique and invaluable opportunity afforded to Dynamo Academy players.

During the college soccer season, HoustonDynamo.com and MyDynamo.net will be keeping tabs on these players. Here's the latest news from collegiate players through games of November 15:

Juniors:
MF Daniel Roberts (UNC-Wilmington / Fort Bend Clements / Texans) - Helped UNC-Wilmington to Colonial Athletic Association tournament title by playing all 180 minutes in 1-0 wins over Old Dominion and Northeastern, earning a spot on the all-tournament team ... UNC-Wilmington will play at Charlotte in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Thursday at 6 p.m. CT.
MF Josue Soto (SMU / Monterrey, Mexico) - SMU's season is over.
MF Pana Vasquez (SMU / Cy Falls / Houstonians) - SMU's season is over.

Sophomores:
FW Alex Dixon (North Carolina / Humble Atascocita / Texans) - UNC suffered upset shootout loss in ACC quarterfinals against North Carolina State ... Dixon had two scoring chances and four total shots but could not break the deadlock ... Despite the elimination, UNC received the No. 5 national seed and will host the winner of Brown and Stony Brook on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.
MF Clayton Holz (Stanford / St. John's / Houstonians) - Did not play in season-ending 1-0 loss to Cal on November 14 ... Stanford received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament and will host local rival St. Mary's on Thursday at 9 p.m. CT.
MF Matt Kirby (Denver / Bmnt. Msgr. Kelly / Texans) - Played 34 minutes as a substitute in 2-2 tie with Air Force last Thursday in MPSF first round. The Pioneers advanced with a 3-1 shootout win ... Played 15 minutes and had two shots in 1-0 semifinal loss to New Mexico on Friday. Denver's season is over.

Freshmen:
DF Matt Boullt (Tulsa / Fort Bend Clements / Tulsa) - Started both games in helping Tulsa to third consecutive Conference USA championship ... Tulsa beat Kentucky 2-1 in semifinal on Friday ... Assisted on clinching goal in 3-0 win vs. Marshall on Sunday ... Tulsa is a No. 8 national seed and will host the winner of St. Louis and Missouri State on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT.
